Vietnam's ecommerce market is projected to reach USD $20–25 billion by 2026, making it one of the top three growth markets in Southeast Asia alongside Indonesia and the Philippines. With a population of 98 million — median age 31 — and smartphone penetration above 75%, Vietnam has the demographic profile for sustained ecommerce growth over the next decade.
What makes Vietnam distinctive in the SEA context is the outsized role of TikTok Shop and live selling. Vietnam consumers have been rapid adopters of social commerce, and TikTok Shop Vietnam's live selling volume rivals or exceeds Shopee Live in many categories.

Shopee VN is the dominant marketplace by order volume and remains the essential starting point for any brand entering Vietnam ecommerce. The platform follows the same campaign calendar as Malaysia and Singapore — 11.11, 12.12, Shopee Birthday Sale, and monthly double-date sales.
Vietnam buyers on Shopee are highly price-sensitive and respond strongly to free shipping vouchers, flash deals, and bundle discounts. The Shopee Xu (loyalty points) system and Shopee Coins keep buyers in the Shopee ecosystem and reward frequent purchasers.
TikTok Shop Vietnam is arguably the most important new channel in the country. Vietnam has one of the highest per-capita TikTok usage rates in the world, and the platform's live selling format has been rapidly adopted across beauty, fashion, food, and health categories.
